Sub-Zero Appliance Repair
Sub-Zero builds high-performance built-in refrigeration: full-size refrigerators and freezers, under-counter units, and climate-controlled wine storage, available with custom panels to match any kitchen.
Appliance Service Co. has spent over 25 years repairing and rebuilding these units. That includes full sealed system restoration — the compressor, evaporator, and refrigerant circuit returned to factory specification. It is the most demanding work in residential refrigeration, and it is the reason a Sub-Zero is worth repairing rather than replacing.
We also replace cosmetic components. If the original panels, trim, or grille on your unit are scratched or dented, most pieces can be sourced and fitted.
Every part we install is new. We do not use refurbished components, and we have access to original Sub-Zero parts.
We are a Houston-based, family-owned company, and all service is performed in your home across Houston and the surrounding areas.
Common Sub-Zero Appliance Repairs
If your unit is not performing as it should, the guide below covers what we see most often.
Sub-Zero 532: refrigerator will not cool, freezer is working
When the freezer holds temperature but the refrigerator section does not, the fault is usually in the fan motor, the evaporator, or something as simple as the door light switch. Open the door and press the light switch in by hand. If the lights stay on, the interior lamp is running continuously and adding heat the unit has to work against.
Other causes include deferred maintenance, a gasket that has lost its seal, a failing compressor, or dirty evaporator coils. Any of these will reduce cooling capacity before the unit fails outright.
Sub-Zero 532: ice maker is not producing
Start with freezer temperature, which should sit between 0 and 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Above that range the ice maker will underproduce or stop. Beyond temperature, the common causes are ice buildup in the mold, a clogged fill valve, or an electrical fault in the ice maker circuit.
Sub-Zero 632: neither the refrigerator nor the freezer is cooling
When both compartments fail together, the cause is upstream of either one. Check that the unit is receiving power. If it is, and the display is showing an error code, that indicates a fault in the control circuit. Error code diagnosis on these units should be handled by a technician familiar with the platform — the codes point to a system, not a part.
Sub-Zero wine cooler is leaking water
Leaks in a wine storage unit typically originate at the drain line or drain pump, or from a door seal that is no longer seating correctly. Damaged electrical components and an overworked compressor or evaporator can produce the same symptom. Because these units hold a narrow temperature and humidity range, a leak is worth addressing before it affects the cabinet contents.
A note on self-repair
Do not disassemble a Sub-Zero unit. These are sophisticated sealed systems, and improper handling causes damage that is expensive to reverse — in some cases more expensive than the original fault. Call a technician who works on the brand.
